OUR HISTORY

Sassan & Sassan have been protecting our clients’ assets and providing legal counsel for over 75 years.
In 1935, John Sassan received his degree from Illinois Kent College of Law. The son of first-generation immigrants, John had worked hard to pay his own way through law school. Shortly after obtaining his law degree, he opened an office near the neighborhood where he grew up, on Chicago’s West Side. He dedicated his practice to providing exceptional legal representation to everyday people in the areas of estate planning, probate, and the daunting task of going against the Internal Revenue Service. John’s practice soon broadened to helping his clients launch businesses, grow their incomes, protect their assets, and provide better lives for their children. Eventually, John’s practice expanded further, adding offices in Downtown Chicago and on the city’s Northwest Side. John remained at Sassan & Sassan for fifty years, retiring shortly before his death in 1985.
Dennis Sassan graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 1965. After being associated with the trust department of a downtown Chicago bank, Dennis was an estate tax attorney with the Internal Revenue Service; and in 1970 he left the Treasury Department and joined his father at the firm. Dennis successfully expanded Sassan & Sassan’s practice in estate planning, probate, business and tax planning and commercial and residential real estate development and sales. At the same time, he grew the firm’s client base from Chicago and the near suburbs to DuPage, Kane, McHenry and Lake Counties. Dennis continues to lead Sassan & Sassan today, working primarily in the areas of estate planning, probate, tax planning, real estate, business planning, and transactional matters. Dennis works primarily out of our Niles office.
In 2017, Anthony Sassan joined the firm. With over thirty years of legal experience in complex civil and criminal litigation, appeals, and family law, Anthony is expanding the firm’s practice areas to include federal and state civil litigation, federal and state criminal defense, as well as estate planning and probate. In addition to estate planning, probate, and business planning matters, Anthony handles matters in the Northern District of Illinois, Cook County and DuPage County, and works out of our Downtown, and Niles offices.
In addition to our established practice areas, Sassan & Sassan provides referrals to top attorneys in the areas of intellectual property, medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, workplace injuries, and intellectual property.
We look forward to working with you.
